There are two different kind of inputs. One BUTTON and another SWITCH.
BUTTON - monostable
SWITCH - bistable
It depends from hardware what you want to connect to the device.

Button input mode for example
when button is Press -> light on (Button 0 ->1 light on/off )
or
when button is Press - light off until the button is released -> light on ( Button 0 -> 1 -> 0 light on/off)
