Nawet sobie pio zainstalowałem. Utworzyłem sobie konto za pośrednictwem github.
I nie mam pojęcia jak się w cli zalogować

robię: pio account login
podaję login, a on mnie pyta o hasło... tylko nie ustawiałem żadnego hasła, bo utworzyłem konto przez github. Ktoś wie jak tam się zalogować w takiej sytuacji?

Można, jak najbardziej. Ale ktoś nowy instalujący środowisko Arduino IDE oraz Supla Device ma prawo przypuszczać, że biblioteka pobrana przez wbudowane w AIDE narzędzie jest aktualna
